On February 19th, Gaelchol\u00e1iste Mhuire A.G\u00a0headed to University of Limerick to participate in the inaugural Basketball 3v3 National Championship’s hosted by Basketball Ireland in conjunction with the International Schools Sport Federation (ISF). It was a one day tournament, comprising of 16 teams from 14 schools Nationally. Daith\u00ed \u00d3 Liath\u00e1in, S\u00e9amas \u00d3 hAnnag\u00e1in, S\u00e9amas \u00d3 Coile\u00e1in and Se\u00e1n Mac Craith represented Gaelchol\u00e1iste Mhuire A.G.<\/p>\n
Gaelchol\u00e1iste Mhuire A.G along their path to secure qualification to the world championships defeated HS Rathgare team 2, one of the tournament favourites Cresent Comprehensive and St. Claire’s College in the Pool phase of the tournament. Securing top spot in the pool, the AG played HS Rathgare Team 1 in the quarter Final, HS Rathgare Team 2 again in the semi-Final and the tournament favourites in an extraordinarily close battle 16-14 v\u2019s St. Joseph’s of Galway. This secured the qualification for Gaelchol\u00e1iste Mhuire A.G to the World Championships in Belgrade from June 23rd<\/sup>-29th<\/sup>, and the first all Irish speaking school to qualify for an ISF world championships from Ireland in any event. In Belgrade, Gaelchol\u00e1iste Mhuire A.G began with:<\/p>\n Slovenia, Lost 19-18<\/p>\n India, Won 15-8<\/p>\n Georgia, Lost 19-14<\/p>\n Serbia, Lost 21-17<\/p>\n Gaelchol\u00e1iste Mhuire were then tied with India and Georgia for a place in the Last 16 but lost out on points difference to Georgia who then played France in the last 16.<\/p>\n The ISF World Championships were not just about playing Basketball.
